Reforest Haiti by planting fruit trees!

Haiti is the third largest country in the Caribbean, but more than 98% of its forests have disappeared due to deforestation activity to collect firewood. Our local partner is working on implementing agroforestry systems to protect watersheds and improve food security. As a result 22 different fruit tree species such as coconut trees are being planted! The trees planted then contribute to both subsistence farming and commercial agroforestry activities for the local communities. Plus, they help better protect the land from the recurring storms and flash floods as their roots help improve soil fertility and soil stabilisation!
